The Verdict

Rumble Coffee Roasters has officially opened the doors to its new espresso bar in the heart of Kensington, marking an exciting new chapter for the Melbourne-based specialty roaster.

Designed to showcase the very best of Rumble’s sustainably sourced coffee, the bar offers locals a new destination for uncompromising quality, friendly service, and a strong shot of caffeine-fuelled transparency.

Founded in 2014, by Matt Hampton and Joe Molloy, Rumble Coffee Roasters has built its reputation on great coffee and doing business the right way. From transparent pricing and long term relationships with growers, to B Corp certification, Rumble’s ethos has always been about making specialty coffee more accessible, more sustainable, and more honest. The new espresso bar brings this mission into a physical space, just a short walk from their roastery.

Located within the Local: Kensington rental building, the espresso bar features a clean, industrial aesthetic with polished concrete floors, warm timber accents, and an open bar that puts the focus on the coffee-making craft.

“For ten years, we’ve been roasting coffee just around the corner, and we’re thrilled to now have a dedicated space to share it. Kensington is where we’ve grown—first with the roastery, and then with Double Dutch Bakery, so now being part of the Local: Residential community just makes sense,” Joe Molloy, Co-Founder, Rumble Coffee Roasters says.

The Kensington espresso bar features a rotating selection of single origins and blends, for both filter and espresso, brewed by some of Melbourne’s most passionate baristas. Rumble’s range of fresh roasted coffee beans line the shelves alongside brew gear for the home barista.

The design is clean, minimal, and coffee-focused—no full kitchen, no fluff, just great beans in the hands of experts. Whether it’s a punchy espresso or a silky flat white, every cup tells the story of the producers behind it.

The espresso bar is in the heart of the burgeoning Macaulay Road Precinct and less than 100 meters from Macaulay Train station.
